Welcome!

Welcome to the Herndon Middle School PTA website!  The PTA is focused on helping to "Build Community" at Herndon Middle School (HMS) this year. We have an incredible Principal, Mrs. Justine Klena, who, along with the support of an amazing administration team and faculty, is motivated to do everything she can to make HMS a great environment for our children.  Our goal at the PTA is to come along side Mrs. Klena and her team and support them in any way that we can.

HMS HAITI RELIEF EFFORT

HMS is working to collect donations for the Haiti Relief Effort.  A team of faculty and students plan to set out canisters at local businesses to collect money that will be donated to the American Red Cross.  If your child is interested in working on this team or if you have any questions, please contact Julia Smart at jmsmart@fcps.edu.

SCHOOL BUDGET INFORMATION

Great News!    Please see the message that we received from Delegate Tom Rust:  "I am pleased to announce that through the united efforts of the Northern Virginia Delegation, of which I am co-chair, Governor McDonnell will support updating the LCI which means that Fairfax County will receive an additional $61 million in state aid over and above what Governor Kaine had in his budget. This was a unified effort on behalf of the Northern Virginia Delegation, with the many emails received by Northern Virginia residents."

Thankfully the LCI calculation will be updated!  The PTA will continue to work to keep you informed on the budget discussions and decisions that will affect our schools.

Thank you for all of your support!
